Happy New Year! I hope 2010 is being kind to you. December and January are always times when people spend time with family, look back on the previous year and make resolutions to improve upon it. Many will go through the year and create best of and worst of lists. I always find it fun to look over the year and remember all the things that happened. Especially since the end of the year always brings that “sheesh the year went by fast!” feeling. It feels good to realize how much you have actually accomplished in that year and reminds you to revel in your day to day triumphs and tribulations.
I always enjoy getting to know new people whether they are clients, colleagues or friends. I find when photographing clients, getting to know them is the way I can get them to open up, to share something with the camera. I don’t think they think of it that way but feeling comfortable is huge. So, this year I decided being open and generous was going to be integral. I ask my clients to be generous with me so I feel being generous and sharing my life and who I am is only fair. Like any relationship it must be a two way street.
Without further ado, here are things that I think were cool in my life in 2009.
I went to Vegas for the first time in February. I went for a photographers’ convention and also to visit one of my best friends of 15 years. I didn’t like Vegas. I don’t drink a lot and I do not gamble which is about all you can do there. However, I loved what I DID do there. When think about the trip it was my friends who made it worth it. I saw my best friend in the Cirque show, “LOVE”. Amazing! How someone creates something like that is just amazing. I did an a photo shoot at Red Rock with 6 dancers. It has inspired me to create more photo shoots like that. I ran up and down the strip one night with friends filming a music video. I also photographed one of my very good photog friends get married. It was the perfect event complete with Elvis as the officiant and a super yummy dinner at the Paris hotel.

St. Paddy’s Day 2009 was a road trip to see the Leather Craftsman album company factory. Seeing every element made by hand was really neat.

That trip with 5 other photographer friends, created the Philadelphia Wedding Project. I am excited that August 2010 is when we will photograph the winners wedding.

A fab new logo and website.
My fab couple, Kim and Micah, had Ryan Howard show up at their wedding. Check out the video below.
I expanded into New York. Philly was never supposed to be a destination. It was just supposed to be a 1 year break from NY. That was 10 years ago. Glad to finally say after many false starts everything fell into place and we were able to make the move back to NY. Of course, I am still in Philly a lot and work there constantly.
I got to shoot some cool things such as photos of the Comcast Building cake being set up by the Ace of Cakes, another Ace of Cakes photo at a wedding, event photos for Harper’s Bazaar, Wall Street Journal and Teen Magazine, Louis Vuitton, Trish McEvoy and Bergdorf Goodman. Of course, all of my lovely wedding couples and biz partners that made their events spectacular.
I am excited for 2010 because it is already starting to look better than 2009 and 2009 was pretty good year.
