New York Wedding Magazine Event: Katie Fischer Design

Want something really personal for your wedding? At the NY Wedding Magazine event, a new colleague and friend of mine showcased her wonderful drawings. Katie Fischer Design, draws super cute drawings of the couple, bridesmaids, groomsmen, guests, whomever you want to remember. I love the “Story of Us” she does for the engagement party, shower or wedding. It is drawings of different parts of your story together in a beautiful frame, showcasing what makes you unique. This is complimentary to my own Get to Know You sessions. Weddings are about celebrating and sharing yourselves with the people closest to you and what better way than to share your story and what makes you unique.

She also customizes one of a kind cards, invitations and paper gifts for all your friends and family.

Tammy Golson Events designed the table display and did a fab job!

Here is a view of “The Story of Us”. Katie did this one for her own wedding and guests loved reading about all of their adventures. It’s like a mini movie on paper.

A unique and personal way to do a seating chart. This takes a lot of thought and preparation and makes guests feel included in your day.

All of these drawing s are so cute, unique and above all personal. For me, it is all about the connections and personal relationships. Looks like Katie feels the same way.

New York Wedding Magazine Event: Newlywish

Newlywish has to be one of the best ideas for city chic couples. You can register for items from many smaller stores that carry amazing things like Fish’s Eddy, Bobby Berk Home, Katie Fischer Designs and even experiential gifts from Physique 57, Great Seats or Tres Belle Spa. Most couples getting married these days, have all the typical apartment/house stuff like blenders, towels and sheets and really just want to pick out the things that will compliment them. I know being in New York City, space is limited, so I only want a few choice pieces to showcase my tastes and sensibilities. The other great thing about New York is the plethora of unique stores, designers and opportunities for cool experiences, so Newlywish gives us a chance to tap into this.

I loved the table that Merci New York designed for Newlywish for the New York Magazine Event. Merci New York is known for her great fashion sense and styling gorgeous city brides but she also does a great job designing smaller events like the bridal shower, brunch or bridesmaid luncheon. I loved the purples and oranges she used, the french macarones and the incorporation of different pieces that you can register for at Newlywish.

New York Magazine Wedding Event: Kate Spade

A few months ago, I had the privilege of being the official press photographer for Merci New York for the New York Magazine Wedding Event. Getting to see all the new trends, accessories, designers, and meet all the fab industry professionals that showcase was exciting. One big showing was Kate Spade: who is doing weddings now! I have to say I love all the new stuff that Kate Spade has been doing these days. The company has been getting very hip and stylish but still has classic elements. Their new wedding line is perfect for the New York City bride, especially ones that are doing very chic, intimate weddings or running down to City Hall to get hitched. I love the bold colors and short simple dresses. I can’t decide if my fave shoes are the ivory with the sparkly heel or the gold sparkle ballet flats. I know my 6 year old would choose both!

New York Dance Photographer: Gallery showing at the TRUST Gallery in Philadelphia

Sofia Negron Photography is proud to announce a solo gallery showing of dance photographs from the last 5 years of Shut Up and Dance. The showing will be the entire month of May at TRUST Gallery in Philadelphia. The gallery opening will be held on May 6, 2011 from 6:00-9:00PM at TRUST at 249 Arch Street Philadelphia, PA 19106. During the month of May, the show can be seen Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00AM-6:00PM. It free and open to the public.

These images are more than just pretty dance photographs but a representation of the commitment of a community of artists, volunteers and a non-profit organization to bring life to others and feed their bodies and souls.

In 1993, dancers at the Pennsylvania Ballet wanted to do something to respond to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. They realized the best thing they could do was “shut up and dance”. Every year since, the dancers have partnered with MANNA in presenting a one-night-only performance. For the last 5 years, Sofia Negron has had the honor of photographing this performance.

Especially for people at acute nutritional risk due to life-threatening illness, MANNA (Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance) prepares and delivers delicious nourishing meals and counsel, empowering individuals to battle illness and improve their quality of life. They provide 3 meals a day, 7 days a week at no charge. Every Shut Up and Dance ticket provides meals for one client.

A photographer for the last 10 years, Sofia Negron loves capturing movement and stories. Sofia not only photographs dancers and other artists, she also tells authentic love stories through her wedding photography. A former dancer herself, Sofia loves to capture the energy, the lines and the very soul of each dancer.

This exhibit will raise awareness for this wonderful organization, pay tribute to the dancers who have participated in these performances, and showcase Sofia’s dance photography work. 100% of the profits generated by the sale of these works during the show will be donated to MANNA.

Isaac Mizrahi, Newlywish and Lindsay Landman Events do a holiday table

Right before Christmas, I was asked by New York event designer and good friend, Lindsay Landman and Amanda Allen of Newlywish to come photograph a table they designed for Isaac Mizrahi. Newlywish is an alternative online registry service for chic, sophisticated New York couples. Isaac approached her about designing a holiday table showcasing some of the products available on Newlywish for his weekly webisodes. This shoot was a lot of fun because we did it at Isaac Mizrahi’s studio. His studio is set up for his webisodes, various product photo shoots as well as his QVC show. He had different sections of the space set up like a kitchen, living room, bathroom etc. Really neat to see all the TV lights and then to look through the glass windows and see everyone working in the office. You would never know all those things were in the same space from viewing a photo or watching the TV.

Lindsay Landman found some cool eclectic chairs, a bench and a table from various parts of the studio. She then used a pashmina for a table runner and mismatched plates for the place settings. Each Jason Miller plate from Bobby Berk Home gave a little twist to the homey yet still formal table. She used various pieces from stores like Fish’s Eddy, Bobby Berk Home and Bowery Kitchen: which are all found on Newlywish. My favorite piece of the entire project was the dog painting, Isaac had on one of the walls in the studio. It just adds to the living room feel and works well with all the colors.
