New York Engagement Session: Upper West Side

Finally catching up on some blogging! Here is a cute little mini Get to Know You session with Catherine and Brandon. Catherine and Brandon met swing dancing. The funny thing is one of my best friend’s, her friend’s girlfriend was friends with Brandon so our mutual friend dragged Brandon out swing dancing that night. Did you even follow that? Just figure, it’s the whole Kevin Bacon theory, which we did not discover until after they became my clients. New York City can be really small sometimes.

New York Engagement Session: Flatiron and the East Village

Love Jaclyn and Bobby! They are such an awesome couple and we had the best time in the East Village doing their Get to Know You session (aka engagement session). Meeting through mutual friends, they are pretty much inseperable. Proclaimed opposites, I think they complement each other really well. Bobby is a good listener, more on the quiet side but I can sense a witty sense of humor under the shy exterior. Plus he loves converse! a boy after my own heart. On the other hand, Jaclyn is outgoing, silly and we could hang out and chat forever.

Jaclyn, Bobby, Gatsby (their dog) and I started in Madison Square Park in the late afternoon. We walked around, parked ourselves on some benches and chatted. Then snagged photos around their neighborhood on our way back to their apartment. As night fell, we grabbed photos on St. Mark’s Place, one of my fave streets in the city. The village sure has changed since I lived there 15 years ago.

Get to Know You Session: Amy and Ryan

Amy, a third grade teacher, and Ryan, a college basketball coach are the cutest. Amy and Ryan met at St. Joe’s University, where we did their Get to Know You session (aka engagement session). They became friends and remained friends throughout all four years of college, but never really dated. After they graduated, Ryan moved away and Amy began work as a teacher in Philadelphia. They always kept in touch over the phone. Because of Ryan’s job, he moved a few times over the next 2 years. Until finally he moved to New Jersey (sort of close to Philly) which is when he thought it would be a good idea to go on a date. He came to Philly to take Amy out to dinner and they realized they should have started dating a long time ago! Personally, I think going out and experiencing real life brings a much needed perspective to an enduring relationship.

I am in the middle of wedding season and barely had enough time to process all of my jobs let alone share images with all of you. I also took a much needed vacation at the beginning of September. I feel refreshed and ready to tackle it all. It has been a really fun summer with a few fun weddings in New York City, Lake George and Philadelphia. Plus a bunch of Get to Know You sessions, headshots and art shoots. Here are a few sneak peeks of what I have been up to so you do not think I moved to the Bahamas and resting poolside with a mojito. Although that does sound really good right about now.
