Real Wedding: Rachel and TJ at Cairnwood

I met Rachel 15 years ago in New York. We were both dancers, on scholarship at the same studio. Rachel was a very talented dancer and originally from PA. Fast forward a few years, I moved to Philly and she started doing ballroom dancing. Then we lost touch. Thanks to facebook we reconnected and did the occasional, “Hi How ya doing” I was really honored when she called me to do her wedding, she only knew me as a dancer .

Petals Lane did a beautiful assortment of spring flowers for the bouquets.

Rachel has a little boy who was the ringbearer. Even though today was her day and she was a bride, she is also a mom. Sometimes duty calls.

Rachel looked stunning and her dress was perfect. I love this image.

Rachel and TJ are wonderful for each other. The beautiful things their friends said about loyalty, devotion, friendship and love was very endearing. All of their friends had a really good time.

Feastivities did stations which works great for Cairnwood because of all the different rooms in the estate. The stations allowed for everyone to move around and mingle. It really allowed for people to laugh and have fun in a casual yet elegant atmosphere.

Of course, the dance floor was hopping all night. With friends that are dancers, you know you have to have good music. Rachel choreographed their first dance and even dad broke out into a routine for the father-daughter dance.

For me this was a really fun wedding. Partly because I got to see old friends and mostly because I could feel all the love all day.

Event Camp 2010 at Roger Smith Hotel

EventCamp 2010 was a BarCamp-style gathering that brought together event professionals to share best practices and learn new strategies of leveraging social media and technology to create a successful event. EventCamp was a grassroots initiative produced by a group of volunteers and solely funded by sponsors. It was the biggest trending topic in NYC on twitter and offered video conferencing so people at home could participate. I was asked by my friend, Christina Coster, a freelance planner in NYC and one of the producers of the event to come take photos. I had a lot of fun meeting all kinds of social media gurus and planners and learned some new tips for twitter.

Random New York

Back in January, I made a decision to go out at least 2x a month and just photograph whatever I felt like. Well, I did it that one day and have not done it since. So, now I am deciding to go out again today and just take photos. Observe, watch, feel the world around me. The hardest thing about doing that is not judging yourself. Allowing yourself to just take whatever photo you feel like because at that moment something triggered you to capture it. I want to challenge myself to not just shoot weddings and events but other things that inspire me too. Whether anyone will like it or not. So here is my first series of random images from that cool day in January.

Musician photos- Tim McGlone and the Turn

A few weeks ago, I went to the National Underground and photographed Tim McGlone and the Turn. I met Tim a few years ago and was really excited to come hear them play and capture some cool pics of them performing. The National Underground is a very small club/bar in the East Village. Downstairs in the basement is a small room with a bar and a stage area with two stage lights. A really bright pink one which illuminates the singer and pretty much nothing else and a red one that lit stage right. The poor keyboardist was jammed behind a post in the dark. It was a typical tiny bar in the village where good and not so good bands play. It was definitely fun and I hope to get to do more of these types of photos. Ultimately, I’d like to follow a band from practice, load in, backstage, performance, studio and everything in between. I really love capturing the whole story and getting to know my subjects. Baby A

I was in New York City to photograph a mini session with Baby A. She is so itty bitty. She had a little cold so we didn’t really get to do a lot of fun naked pics. Every time we loosened the blanket she screamed. Talk about wanting to be swaddled. She was a little early so maybe she is trying to make up for it now.

Is that a smile I see?
