New York couple’s wedding at TRUST

Some of you may remember the sneak peeks from Meredith and Jacob’s wedding. I am really excited to share the rest of their wedding. Meredith and Jacob had a beautiful jewish ceremony. Judith Campbell, Campbell Studios, designed the chuppah and decor while a friend of Jacob’s family painted the inside of the chuppah. They then ventured upstairs for some heartfelt toasts from a very close family friend of Meredith’s who had actually given the toast at her own parent’s wedding, Jacob’s friend, Meredith’s sister (who made everyone cry) and Jacob, himself. I love the looks they gave each other during his toast, the love between them is so evident. Then dancing and laughing all night long. Of course, the cake looked and tasted fabulous. It had to because Meredith is a pastry chef. Subpar cake would be just wrong.

New York Wedding Photographer at Overbrook Country Club for winter wedding

Pat and Tom had one of the most beautiful and authentic weddings of last year. Pat incorporated everything and everyone she loves into her wedding. When Pat and I met last year she said, I have Beautiful Blooms doing all the design and decor and Eclatante Event Design will plan everything out and keep me sane. Right then I knew this was going to be a great wedding to capture because these two do beautiful work. Then talking more with Pat, I knew by how she was describing Tom and her ideas for the wedding that it was going to be an extremely personal occasion full of love and fun. Pat has 6 kids with 10+ grandchildren. She loves her kids and her one daughter would be her maid of honor, her other children would do readings, the grandchildren would be the ringbearers and flowers girls and sing songs. She emphasized that her family and friends were very important and wanted lots of photos of them. She also LOVED Christmas time and the entire wedding would be a reflection of that.

When I arrived at her house, it was decked out in Christmas gear. I mean, it was gorgeous! It would put some of the New York City holiday windows to shame. She wore a green dress; her favorite color. She wore a white fur stole and carried a white muff with holly.

Her bridesmaids wore iridescent gold and carried wreathes instead of flowers. The grandkids wore all white with gold or silver accents and lanterns. The ceremony was full of love, with her grandson singing, children reading and all the grandkids singing Silent Night.

The decor was festive and reminiscent of Christmas without doing the traditional red and green. Pops of fuschia, teal and purple ran through the room. The tables and centerpieces had snow, holly, snow covered branches, Christmas balls and jewels. Each table was labeled a different Christmas song loved by Pat and Tom.

The reception was a blast. Listening to Tom’s daughter describe how Pat and Tom met was hilarious. Tom and Pat’s daughters encouraged them to join e-harmony and give it at least 3 tries. Pat was Tom’s third date. Had he stopped at the first two ladies he would have never met her. I am so glad he kept trying.

Pat brought all of her girlfriends up and named them honorary bridesmaids. She gave them all crowns, tiaras and sashes. She gave tribute to each one, talking about how much they meant to her and how each of them affected her life.

Her granddaughters dedicated a dance to Pat and Tom

Pat’s favorite movie is Beauty and the Beast, so she had a whole procession of dessert brought out to the song, “Be Our Guest”

Pat and Tom’s siblings did a fun little number for Tom: “Tommy Angel” to the tune of Johnny Angel. His brothers walked across the floor with signs about dating.

Emily and Ricky – New York Wedding Photographer at Chelsea Piers Lighthouse 1 of 3

Wow! What to say about Emily and Ricky. They are fantabulous. I love hanging out with them. Allison Gaetano, who I worked with when she was a planner with Lindsay Landman Events, introduced us. From the moment I walked into their apartment, I knew we were going to have fun. I am not even sure if we talked about the wedding because there were so many other things to talk about. Emily is gorgeous, sweet and a big tomboy. Ricky is handsome, sweet and likes to play devil’s advocate. He also has a great sense of humor. They both love playing video games, tennis, board games and super competitive. They compliment each other really well.

Ricky’s cousin knew Emily and thought she’d be perfect for Ricky and vice versa. The cousin was right. I absolutely love listening to the toasts during receptions because you learn so much about the couple. Emily’s mom talked about when Em first met Ricky. The voice message she left was giddy, high pitched and she wouldn’t shut up about him. Ricky’s friend said he wouldn’t stop smiling and talking about her . They pretty much did that on the wedding day too.

The details and the moments between them, their family and friends were really beautiful. Allison did an amazing job of designing and coordinating their wedding all the while being maid of honor and a soon to be mommy!

Here is the first of 3 parts. Yes, I think the details deserve their own post and of course all the loveliness that is Emily and Ricky and their friends and family.

These place cards are really cool because they are wooden plates with scrabble pieces as the stand. The scrabble piece completed each guests first name at their seat. I told you they love games!

Ricky’s best friend made the Chuppah himself. I love the use of actual branches that he found at the summer home they share.

Commonweal honoring Timothy Shriver at Pier 60 at Chelsea Piers, NY

Pier 60 and the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers is a great event venue in New York City. Sunset there is gorgeous and Abigail Kirsch does amazing food. Events by Ny had me photograph Commonweal Magazine‘s event honoring Timothy Shriver, Chairman of the Special Olympics. Timothy Shriver is the son of Sargent Shriver and Eunice Kennedy. Commonweal Magazine is an independent journal of religion, politics and culture edited by lay Catholics. It was a very interesting evening listening to all the discussions about the current political landscape from a religious point of view. I do not get that very often.

Check out the gorgeous light coming in through the floor to ceiling windows of Pier 60.
